After three and a half years as Mexico City’s go-to place for authentic haute cuisine mexicaine lunches and dinners, the Chapulín restaurant, inside the Presidente InterContinental Hotel in Colonia Polanco, has now expanded its offerings to include breakfast.
And we aren’t just talking about any old breakfast.
As of Tuesday, May 29, Chapulín has begun opening its doors to early bird diners with one of the most extensive and enticing breakfast menus in the city.
In keeping with the restaurant’s true-blue Mexican tradition, Chapulín’s head chef Josefina López has incorporated a smorgasbord of regional morning favorites into a breakfast and brunch menu that runs the gamut from Chiapas-style green chilaquiles with suckling pig terrine and blue tortillas to a classic Yucatan purple sweet potato pancake with fried bananas.
For a taste of Mexico’s norteño region, Chapulín also offers a hardy spinach and mushroom omelet in a tangy pumpkin flower sauce, and there are also stick-to-your-ribs chicken enchiladas poblanas topped with sweet corn kernels.
In addition to freshly squeezed orange, mandarin and grapefruit juices, Chapulín has a selection of heart-healthy green and red fruit juices.
And for those who are not so concerned about healthy dining, Chapulín’s signature mimosas, bellinis and bloody Marys are great eye-opening starters.
Homemade sweet breads and freshly brewed Arabica coffee from Oaxaca and Veracruz, along with the restaurant’s own home-style jams and sauces – produced from organic and family-farmed fruits and vegetables whenever possible – complete the menu.
Chapulín’s open terraza dining with a breathtaking view of Chapultepec Park and the impeccable service that is the Presidente InterContinental’s calling card ensure that breakfast will once again regain its footing in Mexico City as the most important meal of the day.

It is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Parking is available in the hotel and all major credit cards are accepted.
