While Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) never tires of declaring his constituents “feliz, feliz, feliz” (“happy, happy, happy”) under his leftist administration, it turns out that the Mexican people are in fact far less happy now than they were before he took office.

According to the World Happiness Report, released Friday, March 18, just prior to the United Nations International Day of Happiness on Sunday, March 20, Mexico’s rating dropped to Number 46 out of 146 nations, down from its 23rd-place ranking in 2019.

No surprise, Finland once again came in first place in the report, a position it has held for five straight years.

The annual happiness ranking is published by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network, an academic group that has submitted its reports to the United Nations since 2012.

The annual study is largely based on the Gallup World Poll, which asks people around the globe how satisfied they are with their lives, on a scale of 0 to 10.

The report said that most drops in national happiness scores were related to concerns about government and stability.

Mr. AMLO, meanwhile, no doubt continues to have his “otros datos,” proving once again how out-of-touch he is with the Mexican people.
