A conglomeration of more than 900 modern, classic and traditional Mexican dancers from 80 different troupes participated in a daylong, five-venue celebration of International Day of the Dance on Monday, May 2.

The XV Plural Dance Encounter in Mexico City marked a return to post-covid-19 face-to-face performances, organized by the capital’s Culture Secretariat’s Ollin Yoliztli Cultural Center.

The multi-genre performances included a variety of dance styles, from contemporary and jazz to Polynesian and ballroom dancing.

International Day of the Dance was proclaimed on April 29, 1982, by the United Nations Organization for the Education, Science and Culture (Unesco).
