Although high temperatures and stagnant air are expected to continue to create high ozone levels in Mexico City and the State of Mexico (Edoméx), the Megalopolis Environmental Commission (Came) announced late Wednesday, May 4, that Phase I of the ozone contingency plan would be suspended for Thursday, May 5.
As of 10 p.m. Wednesday, all vehicles in the greater metropolitan area will follow the usual Hoy no Circula (Day without a Car) program, which for Thursday applies to cars with licence plates ending with 1 or 2 (those with green stickers).
All cars with category 1 or category 2 verification stickers with those licence plates are banned from circulating between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m.
Vehicles with 0 and 00 verification holograms are exempt and can circulate normally.
