Just hours after Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) publicly disparaged the nation’s recently appointed Supreme Court (SCJN) chief justice Norma Piña Hernández on Wednesday, March 1, claiming that she was allowing criminals to walk free, social media networks across the country went viral with memes of Píña Hernández’s photograph titled “The Problem” with a picture of a bullet below titled “The Solution.”

The disturbing message was headed with the caption “A Great Idea,” with three hearts after it.

Although the meme was later taken down by most major social media outlets, the implicit threat to the SCJN chief justice was glaring, and should — God forbid — any physical attacks be launched against her, the responsibility for those assaults would rest squarely on the shoulders of the president.
