Sheinbaum Taps Three More Members to Presidential Cabinet

Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum appointed three more members to her presidential cabinet on Thursday, July 18, joining the 17 other individuals the future federal executive previously named.
Sheinbaum announced Claudia Curiel de Icaza, who currently serves as Mexico City’s Secretary of Culture, as Mexico’s federal Secretary of Culture.
The former head of the Mexico City government then revealed she had chosen Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, the current Secretary of Tourism in Tlaxcala, as the Secretary of Tourism.
As her final appointment of the day, Sheinbaum announced Marath Bolaños López would continue in his role of Mexico’s Secretary of Labor, a position he also held under current President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO).
Sheinbaum still has several positions left to fill in her cabinet, including who will head Mexico’s state-owned oil company Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), state-owned energy company Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) and the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE).
