The federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has issued an arrest warrant for grounded Interjet airlines founder and entrepreneur businessman Miguel Alemán Magnani for the alleged crime of tax evasion for the sum of 66.285 million pesos, judicial sources reported Thursday, July 8.

Aléman Magnani — grandson of former Mexican President Miguel Alemán Valdés (1946-1952) and son of former Veracruz Governor  Miguel Alemán Velasco — founded the budget Mexican airlines in 2005, which ceased operations last year due to the pandemic and an inability for pay its debts and workers.

FGR sources said that the warrant was issued based on a complaint filed by the Finance Secretariat for unpaid back taxes.
