In a letter made public by Mexican journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva on Tuesday, Jan. 30, Mexican writer and former diplomat Andrés Roemer – who was arrested in Israel on Oct. 2 after being accused of sexual assault by more than 60 women in Mexico – revealed that he was released from Israeli prison and into house arrest on Dec. 15 after 76 days in detention.

According to Gómez Leyva’s knowledge of the situation, Roemer was set free as “judges in that country determined that Roemer is not a dangerous person and will continue his process under house arrest.”

“Israel discovered a thousand Mexican fallacies and evaluated in detail what is dangerous about me, what a stuffed animal entails,” Roemer wrote in his letter. “Politics is still above justice.”

Roemer went on to write that the Israeli authorities discovered “the lies that the Mexican government told about him” in December – just as the bilateral relations between Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) and Jerusalem picked up friction over AMLO’s views on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“Being out of prison in the Middle East, between Hebrew and Arab…during the war and being absolutely innocent of atrocities that have been committed against me…is a feeling of grace and hierophany,”  continued Roemer.

In his letter, Roemer thanked his family and friends for their continued support after the world “abandoned” him and revealed that he wrote a book about his feelings in prison about his “entire story and the genealogy of it, even though the truth no longer matters.”

For his part, López Obrador said during his morning press conference on Tuesday, Jan. 30 that the Mexican government will reveal additional information about its extradition case against Roemer on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

It looks like the big shot animal (Andres Roemer) is trying to politicize his case, to gain follower on his case. The fact and the matter is about what he did to all those women that he sexually assaulted. Not about the position that Mexico has on on the conflict between Israel and Palestinians. And is not one but 60 woman, unlivable! What do they waiting for to make justice to all those women?
